Jan-Feb 2018 Brian Truesdale at ENO Wine Bar in Georgetown

   Moving to Arlington, VA in May 2017, Brian Truesdale is mostly a self-taught acrylic, abstract artist. He took classes periodically at the Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center in Frederick, MD from 2012-2016, and studied privately with established artists in the Frederick area. Truesdale has exhibited his work throughout the MD and DC Metro regions, solo shows at Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center and Frederick Community College in addition to several group shows. Brian is a member of The Artists Gallery,  Be Dot Gallery in Frederick, MD and Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. and a new member to Capitol Hill Art League.

CHAL 6th Annual/Open Exhibit/Reception/Awards: Vessels

Chris Cooley, Juror, and First Place winner: Kenneth Bachman: Boats in Bermuda Harbor

The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) hosted its reception for the sixth annual, juried, open call show on Saturday, February 4th  at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. This exhibit, open daily, features 2-d and 3-d works of 29 artists from around the Washington region.Click here for the list of artists.

Juror Chris Cooley presented awards as follows: Kenneth Bachman: First Place for Boats in Bermuda Harbor (oil painting, shown above)
Joan Ulrich: Second Place for Cloud Storage Jar (pottery)
Karash Payne: Third prize for Emerge (oil painting)
Fritz Schaper: Honorable Mention for Viking Funeral and The Red Mask (mixed media)
Daniel Venne: Honorable Mention for Man With a Shell (pastel)

Chris Cooley, an art education major from Utah State,  was drafted in 2004 by Washington Redskins and played nine years with the team. He now enjoys painting and throwing pots and is the owner of The Cooley Gallery in Leesburg, VA.
