Cancelled June 5th- CHAL Artists/Members’ Critique group

Our CHAL critique group meets the first TUESDAY of each month.

Schedule:  June 5,  July 3, August 7, Sept. 4. (all tentative and subject to change.) Facilitator: Carolyn Rondthaler/CHAL artist. If interested, please email her at: carolynrondthaler@gmail.com  

Where: Capitol Hill Arts Workshop/ downstairs photo lab room.   Time: 10am -12 noon.

 CHAL members can bring one or two works of art each time for discussion.   Guests who are not CHAL members are able to attend once and invited to join CHAL to attend more critique member group sessions.

Our World Exhibit April 21, 2018 Awards

Capitol Hill Art League’s “Our World” Show Features Region’s Artists 

This year’s Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) open call to artists in the metropolitan Washington region garnered entries from artists around the region. Juror Eric Hope had the task of choosing 30 pieces representing a broad spectrum of work. Please read his statement here.

The juried winners are:  First Prize: Sarah O’Donoghue “Swamp Thing (sicko)”
Second Prize: Jennifer Barlow “Summer Refreshment”
Third Prize: Megan Walsh “Saudades”
Honorable Mention: Rindy O’Brien (CHAL member) “Color My World
Honorable Mention: Ken Bachman (CHAL member) “Wave Fury”

Eric Hope is a curator and writer based in Washington, DC.  He gained a passion for contemporary art through volunteer marketing work at both the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and The Phillips Collection. A senior Contributor at East City Art, he has extensively critiqued exhibitions throughout the metro region for the past seven years.

The event is free and offers wine, food, and conversation with the artists for insight on their work. The exhibit runs April 21– May 31. CELEBRATE! July 13-Sept. 7. Capitol Hill Art League presents an exhibition July 13, 2018 at Dr. Nishan Halim’s Dentistry offices as part of his practice’s 5th Anniversary. We are looking for bright, fun, interesting pieces to celebrate the office’s five years on Capitol Hill.  This is CHAL members only juried exhibition.  CHAL’s own artists, Kimberley Bursic and Sarah Porter are the jurors.

Please submit your artwork digitally through CHAL’s Smarter Entry:  https://client.smarterentry.com/chal  IMPORTANT CHAL members need to enter the passcode which was in the google group email to be able to submit. To cover costs of the digital entry system, CHAL members can submit up to 3 pieces for $10.  A real bargain for the exposure your artwork will receive during the summer blockbuster party, July 13, 2018 and beyond. Submissions deadline: June 8, 2018  Jurors’ notification by:  June 25, 2018

Deliver work to Dr. Halim, 27 6th St NE, Washington, DC on July 12. Check your email for specific time. THE OPENING PARTY is July 13, 2018, as part of the office celebration. Pick up work: September 7th from 12-5pm.
